How does One Decide to be a Circus Performer?

We made it to the Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus again this year. And again we weren't disappointed with the show. We had better seats this year and of course with Tayshaun's memory we knew what to expect in each of the acts.

The show seemed a little shorter this year - we didn't see the motorcycle act nor the elastic back-bending gymnastic family. No new acts either but we were still very entertained.

Tayshaun didn't want a clown picture this year but decided to get lots of souvenirs instead. Look at all that cotton candy stuck in his teeth. Oh boy!

During the show, I was thinking some weird thoughts. How does a person decide they want to work in the circus? "So umm, Mom, you know all those tumbling and gymnastic lessons I had, well, I'm going to join the circus to be a trapeze artist to entertain the world."

Or maybe a veterinarian decides he/she doesn't want to probe a cow, horse, or pig anymore. He/She wants to rub down the sore muscle of the acrobat elephants in the circus while he visits all corners of the world. Oh, and who decides they wanna be a elephant pooper scooper?

And what does this guy's mom say at the beauty salon..."Sally, dear, you know those wheel things a hamster uses for exercise? Well my son, Sergio, he's got this new job. Yea, well, it's the funniest thing; he exercises on a much bigger version of one of those hamster wheels in his act for the Ringling Bros & Barnum Bailey Circus! I'm so proud of him....you know, it's the Greatest Show on Earth!"

Did you ever wonder if any of these dancers were once Viva Las Vegas Girls? Some dancers like to wear clothes. OK.

Or whether any of these folks were once Olympic Medalists..snow skiing tumblers or gymnasts?

And what were these people thinking when they decided to be blown out of these cannons...sky diving wasn't enough of a thrill?!

I think I'll stick to my day job and let the experts do their job. We love the Greatest Show on Earth!!!
