Days 9-12.....Lazy Dayz

Well we finally got in our lazy day mode and I got in a little "Yvette" time too. "Yvette" time is a new concept for Tayshaun that he hasn't quite conquered yet. And I started to realize that I haven't either. With the extra time Tayshaun and I have had in the past few weeks, I made a few discoveries and a new year's resolution.

During our time off, Tayshaun got into trouble. Well suddenly it became obvious to me that my world revolves around Tayshaun. Let me try to explain. Tayshaun's daily routine usually includes "some" tv and video games. However when he's grounded, those are the things that he's restricted from. So what's left? Toys, books, arts/crafts, etc - however, those items don't seem to be as fun unless participating with another person...so it seems. So Tayshaun had a few restriction days during the past few weeks and on those days for entertainment, we'd play board games and cards or read books. When he'd make art projects, he wanted my input or praises on the projects. In the summer, it's not so bad on restriction day because he can go outside to play. But during the past few weeks, there hasn't been much "Yvette" time on a restriction day. And I'd just have to keep my fingers crossed that he'd behave so I wouldn't need to extend another day of restriction.

Of course, I've loved every minute of hanging out with my boy but I finally had to put my foot down. He asked if he could sleep in my bed during the time that we were "off work" and I agreed. After a few nights as soon as we cuddled into the blankies, he'd take over the remote control - which seemed ok at first since I really don't watch tv too often. I mostly have it on for the noise (if I'm not reading). Of course, the programs Tayshaun selected were cartoons. So then during the day everytime I'd turned on the tv, cartoons would be on. It's bad enough that the main television is permanently programmed to Nickelodeon but now my tv too?! After a few nights, Tayshaun actually asked me if we could trade sides of the bed. WHAT?! "I don't think so!" And in the morning when I'd put up the bed, I'd find Bakugan cards or action figures or his dirty little socks tangled up in my sheets. And what was worse is that I'd find his previous day's clothes on my floor. What?! I could no longer find the remote controls in the container they lived in. The DVD player had "The Elf" in it and the VCR had "Alladin". And sometimes when he'd get all comfy cozy and nestled in for the night, he'd giggle real lightly and back up his behind towards me so he could let out a loud fart right on my arm. Well, finally it dawned on me, my bedroom had now become Tayshaun's too.....HE THINKS!. "Oh hell no!"

So new rules for Tayshaun...MY BEDROOM IS MY BEDROOM and TAYSHAUN'S BEDROOM IS TAYSHAUN'S. I love my little Tayshaun-ee-mon but this is just about enough! So when Tayshaun is starting to control more than his own territory, Yvette needs to remember....

Love you Boy but I'm the Queen of this castle!
