Tayshaun doin' his version of the Jerk

This post is going to be a little awkward because I took this film in portrait mode not realizing that there wasn't a way to rotate videos in Blogger. But these were pretty funny so I had to share.

Tisha and Shalyse were over this weekend and showed Tayshaun some little kids dancing the Jerk on YouTube. Tayshaun was pretty impressed so we bookmarked some so he could re-watch them later.

Yesterday, he asked if he could watch them again. And after about an hour, he announced that he was ready to Battle! So he called Tisha and Shalyse and told them, "I got all the moves now. I'm ready to Battle!"

So he practiced a little more before they came over. When they got here, he was a little shy trying out his new moves in front of them at first. But then, as you can see, he was dancing his little heart out - using his hat and his shirt as props.

Too funny!

Hanging Out at Hollywood Connections

We decided to get Aidan and Tayshaun acquainted. They'll be playing T-ball together in a few weeks so Erlinda and I decided to take the boys to Hollywood Connections. They tried a little of everything. They ever braved up for bruises on their behinds and tried on the skates. As you can see, there were lots of falls. But we had both boys skating in no time. Lots of Fun Fun Fun!

Fun with Friends in 2009

There were plenty of good times with friends in 2009. Here's a few of our get togethers the latter part of 2009. There were many changes for us all. Again, we had our annual Christmas party and were surprised by our tarot card readings. We had barbeques, birthday parties, and get togethers. I didn't make it on the cruise this year 'cause Tayshaun and I went to San Diego instead. Thank goodness for friends!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Facebook and getting reacquainted with lost friends

When I started up on Facebook, I mainly joined because my mainstream friends were using it to socialize and plan events. I joined using my current name because, as I mentioned, Tramel is the name that my current friends know me as.
I had some idea that I'd get back in touch with friends in the past few years so I decided to include Lopez because I used that name for over 20 years.

I never anticipated that I'd re-connect with so many friends that I went to high school with.

So I think some of my high school friends have gotten mixed up because they don't see Lobato in my Facebook name.

In the past year, the South High cubbies have gotten together for three gatherings. All have been great fun.

At most of the get-togethers, the majority have been in Lisa's and Paul's graduating year.

But since I was the big sister, I still find people I remember seeing at the Babe Ruth games, or in the neighborhood, or at the Hook & Ladder, or in my sister/brother's circle of friends.
Funny ...the gatherings have been about identifying who and how you know everyone. We've used name tags to identify ourselves. Some you recognize - others, well....have matured.

You hear snippets of "whatever happened to..." or "yea, she married so-and-so" or "did you hear he did such-and-such". It's been really fun re-connecting and making new friends.

I can't wait to see what's in store for 2010. Apparently my graduating year is actually going to put together a gathering in August, 2010...first time ever. Since South High no longer exists, it's been crazy to see so many different classes together at once.
Go South High!!!!

And we ran into the Easter Bunny (Big E)

Tayshaun and I had a day off today so we ran some errands.

We went to a doctor's appointment, lunch and then to the mall.

Tayshaun planted himself on a chair -- he hates to shop -- look at that face.

His new ritual, while shopping, is a carmel apple. Mrs. Fields hasn't seen our faces since the Chocolate Factory found it's way into Fashion Place. He's not fancy -- just carmel please, no snickers, no cookies and cream, no cheesecake carmel, no pecans, nuts or almonds...just plain ole carmel.
We've even switched up malls 'cause Tayshaun bargains for a carmel apple if he goes shopping with me. Fashion Place isn't my favorite mall but if my co-shopper is happy, then I
can get a least a half hour out of him.

This trip we were surprised to find the Easter Bunny visiting. Geez, is it already Easter? Funny and not sure why but Tayshaun was a little apprehensive about going over to say "Hi". At first he didn't even want to talk to him. Santa Claus made a personal visit to Auntie Lisa's house so Tayshaun did visit him in the mall this year...maybe that had something to do with it. Who knows?!
We didn't even actually go up close to Big E until we were ready to leave the mall. The lady attendant kept flirting with Tayshaun trying to entice him by promising him some Easter bunny ears. He still declined but kept watching the lady as we walked away. Just as
we
were ready to walk out of the mall, he changed his mind and ran back to talk to the lady.

And then SNAP! Tayshaun and the Easter Bunny were friends for life.
