I'll Take Care of That....

Well if nothing else, I think I might be doing something right for Tayshaun.

As you may remember, Tayshaun did some artwork on the passenger side of my vehicle at the beginning of the summer. T A Y S H A U N --- nice and neat in bold capital letters. Well we had several conversations about how naughty it was to write on mommie's car. And I don't know how many times I told Tayshaun how expensive it was to fix that mess.

Well not one month after having removed Tayshaun's artwork, I slid right across the corner of a DETOUR sign. I won't go into that long story but keep in mind it wasn't my fault. Who the hell put that sign right there in my way?!

For the past month before going to bed, Tayshaun will ask me if I've checked if the doors are locked. As bossy as it sounds, I am always thankful he asks because I've been known to forget to check the door and/or forget to shut the garage door. He's very good about opening the door for anyone, men and women. I love to hear him say "Ladies first." When he has friends over to play and it's time for him/her to go home, he walks the kids home halfways. He likes to help grandma to her car, carrying any clothes, dog kennels, books, anything she may need help carrying to the car.

When Tayshaun saw the boo boo on my car in the exact same spot as Tayshaun's artwork, the first thing he told me was, "Do you know how much that's gonna cost ya, Mom?!"

Last week, he tells me, "Mom, I think you should just take all the money in my piggybank to help you fix the scratch on the car. I have a dollar too that you can have." I told him, "No, Tayshaun, that's ok, I'll figure it out." His reply was, "No really, Mom, I want to help you fix it."

On Friday, Elena told me that Tayshaun shared with her that he's going to have to figure out a way to make some money because he's gonna help his Mom fix the paint on her car. I'm just amazed that he feels concerned and would really like to be able to help me. It's precious. And it's very caring. My son is feeling like the man of the family....already.

"Mom, why are you going the long way home? Why didn't you turn on that regular corner? Mom, do you think you should be driving so fast? Mom, where do you think you're going?"....ok that's another blog subject. But, yes, he thinks he's the man of the family.

A Milestone is Reached

So I asked Tayshaun if he was scared about his first day of school. He says he wasn't but on the ride up he said he felt a little nervous. Finally, he got to try out his new backpack. He was pretty excited about that.

We were the first to arrive so Tayshaun had Miss Niedrich to himself for a bit. She showed him around and took a picture of him by his nameplate.
We found his desk and Miss Niedrich asked me to help her out by giving out play dough as the kids arrived. Tayshaun's desk was already picked out for him. Yea, he sits between two girls!
After school, Tayshaun was pretty talkative about his day in kindergarten. That's a good sign because normally he doesn't have much to say about his day in preschool and he usually says he forgot what happened (to shut me up) but he had a lot to say when I picked him. I've got my fingers cross that he's going to LOVE school.

Seriously, though, Are you 5?

I seriously think God gave me a man in a little boy's body.

While at the skateboard park this weekend, I noticed that Tayshaun's sweaty forehead was covered with little pimples. You can see them faintly in this photo. For real, though, what 5 year old (almost 6) has acne. This BOY!
So later in the day after a shower, we treated Tayshaun's forehead with some Clearasil cleansing pads. Yes, acne medication on a 5 year old forehead. What else could I do? Well if you've ever wiped your face with a Clearasil cleansing pad then you know that it pretty much sucks up any greasiness that your skin might have had.

A few hours later we were driving in the car...
"Mom, gosh, my forehead feels like it's been been pulled by a ponytail yanker!"

Bikin' at the Skate Park

So we were up and at 'em so Tayshaun could get to the park before anyone else.

Don't get excited about seeing this fire engine. They were going to someone's "real" emergency. But from the way that Tayshaun played injured, here....you woulda thought I called an ambulance.

So I teased him when he came back by me. He didn't like it very well and told me that riding the bike at this skatepark was hard. He told me I couldn't do it. So I bet him....

Don't ever challenge me! The bike was a little short for me and I wasn't quite wearing appropriate footwear but "it's like getting back on a horse....or is that bike?"

Midvale Football Carnival

Sy is trying out her cheerleading skills this year while Luxious is learning to tackle...personally I hope he runs the ball.
So we helped Midvale raise money by spending ours at their carnival.
I could take pics all day long of this pretty little girl. Sy's as much a ham for the camera as Tayshaun. She and T will make beautiful babies some day. hehehehehehe

Thank the higher power for our beautiful mountains. Look at this fabulous background in these pics...the only reason I love living here. And the weather was absolutely perfect for our outdoor events.

Shopping Downtown

We decided to do something differentand shop in town. For our BBQ, we picked up our vegetables from the Farmers Market and, just for the heck of it, I found some great jewelry.
We also walked over to the Gateway and past this mural so T decided to pretend he was climbing this ladder in the mural.
I've been shopping for some kitchen light fixtures so we had to visit my favorite Z Gallerie. And I swear either the Z Gallerie has been watching Divine Design or Candace has been shopping at the Z 'cause everytime I go there, I see more and more furnishings from her show at the store like this light fixture and mirror.
I found the light fixture I'll be putting over our kitchen table. I can finally checkmark that off my list of things to do.
Tayshaun was struggling to hold his skateboard while pedestrians were in his way to board so we visitedDick's to see if they had any backpacks that could help him with that. I've just barely started school shopping so I can checkmark "backpack" off my list. :-)
We tried out the hola hoops while we were there. T definitely needs to practice.
While in town, I took some pics of some colorful buildings but posted just one. The marketer here does such a great job advertising in his/her windows but also the building, itself, is beautiful.
We had a great day walking around in the great SL.
