I've taken a break from cartoons and hit some adult flicks. My two favs have been Inception and Dinner for Schmucks.
When I saw the ads for inception, I knew I had to see this for the sci-fi, special effects, Di-Capri combination. But within the first five minutes, I was lost and realized that I was going to have to stayed focused and pay attention…my favorite kinda movie…."got to figure it out" story. As soon as the film ended, I knew I was going to have to visit this flick a second time for clarity to all the puzzle pieces. Loved this flick.
When I saw the ads for Dinner For Schmucks, I wasn't sure how excited I was to see a film poking fun at misfits. It seemed a little crue. Plus, we had just seen Grown Ups and as much as I love Sandler's foolish comedy, some of his humor is downright dumb and I wasn't ready for another similar comedy just yet. To clarify, I did like Grown Ups, I just thought some of the jokes were stupid. But when I saw that Zach Galifianakis was featured in Schmucks, I decided it was worth it just to see him alone. Galifianakis is my absolute FAV in The Hangover. I can watch Hangover, everyday, it's so funny.
Anyways, Schmucks was absolutely funnier than the trailers make it seem. The film is completely funny; the characters were hilarious; and the idiot-ness was softened by the silliness. The only downside I found to the film was that it was a little long and I kept wondering when "the dinner" was going to happen. But this is a DVD I will definitely purchase.
